Servcorp Bahrain and Polytechnic sign student internship agreement

July 2013 | Servcorp

As part of its commitment to the local community and its younger population, Servcorp Bahrain signed an agreement with Bahrain Polytechnic to provide eligible students a summer internship. Under this agreement, two 3rd year Business School students will attend a 6-week Marketing internship program in order to exhibit and further sharpen their industry skills and expertise. Candidates will be elected by university faculty and final selections will be by Servcorp management based on potential and mutual fit.

Laudy Lahdo, Servcorp General Manager for the Middle East and Turkey, explains “This Servcorp experiential curriculum will offer the immense prospect of gaining an insightful understanding of both daily and short-term business operations of a multinational organization. The program was inspired by Servcorp's commitment to corporate social responsibility by developing the new generation of Bahrain and providing an information platform for developing international business excellence”.

The experience will allow the interns valuable exposure to the company's international standards in preparation for today's dynamic business climate. Emphasis will be on four elements: market research and analysis, business development, marketing strategy and sales as well as management. The combination will beautifully supplement the interns' university core courses, while enhancing their business wisdom and interpersonal skills.

Commenting on the Servcorp Partnership the Dean of Bahrain Polytechnic Business School, Cormac MacMahon, had this to say:

“This is a fantastic opportunity for our business students to get hands-on experience and training in their chosen profession. Partnering with reputable companies such as Servcorp fits with the Polytechnic's Business School's mission to develop highly skilled work ready graduates that meets the needs of the Bahraini labour market. This type of partnership between the Business School and industry is an important step in developing the young Bahraini Business leaders of the future.

Upon successful completion of the academic activities and practical requirements, the interns will have the advantage of having their experience highlighted by coverage in local media[1]. There will also be regular program updates on www.servcorp.bh along with Servcorp Middle East and Servcorp Bahrain social media pages. Of course, Servcorp Bahrain will also issue an official certificate to attest to each intern's dedication and efforts.

Servcorp and the Polytechnic are wholeheartedly invested in this collaborative effort in practical education that will bring budding business leaders closer to where they deserve to be. Anticipating a successful outcome this year, Servcorp Bahrain is committed to the Bahraini youth and intends to make the Summer internship an annual opportunity for the benefit of the future generation.
